When you are about to get your goal, what is next?
It is crucial to set up a higher goal right away when you get your goal or get closing for getting it. Otherwise, you can get stuck. Getting your goal and having nothing to look forward to afterward is a recipe for being frustrated, depressed and unhappy.
When I had a goal of earning $10,000 per month, I received a great advice from a coach I was working with at the time. The advice was simple. When I was close to getting my goal he told me to set a higher goal.
I did just that, and it kept me from being comfortable at staying at $10,000 per month. At the time this was an enormous amount of money for me. I never earned that much!
I was traveling at the time in Ecuador, where I lived a luxury lifestyle for $1,000. I didn’t need much more at the time.
But to get myself excited, and to push myself beyond my limitations, I set a goal of $50,000 per month.
I had friends in the Internet Marketing world who hit a plateau. They earned $5K or $10K per month and became comfortable. They did not have anything to look forward to hitting the goal.
To avoid hitting a plateau, you always wanted to set a goal higher than your current one. Either when you get it, or close to getting it.
The above examples are financial, but the same applies to every other area.
If you have a health goal, to participate in an Ironman/Marathon for example – You would want to set up some other goal after you get it. You have to keep pushing yourself. Go beyond your comfort zone.
Action Step: Close to hitting a goal? Set a higher goal!
