Consistency Is Your Key To Success: Your Missing Ingredient

Let’s say you want to get fit. So you go to the gym, and you go there for two weeks, and that’s it. You drop out. You think, “Okay, I’ve done two workouts. I’m good to go. I’m fit for life.” I also see many people wanting to earn money online. They get some training program and some coaching. There are many things different things that can be done, and they start working on it. But they just do it for three months or maybe six months, and if they don’t see the exact results they want, they quit. They drop out. They try for three or six months, and that’s it. They think that the business doesn’t work, that everything is a lie, and that you can’t really make money online. Those are two examples where people lack the consistency. You need to think long-term. You need to think how to be consistent every single day.
There’s a quote that I really love from Jim Rohn, who has passed away, and that is “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day.” Really think about it. Let’s analyze this sentence really quickly. It sounds like a very simple sentence, but if we break it down, it really means you need to be consistent every day. Not every two weeks, not every month, you need to do things every day. It doesn’t mean that you need to work like crazy 18 hours every day. Sometimes you need to, but if you work on key disciplines, you’ll get the results you want.
But you have to do it every day. Are you willing to do it every day? I have been consistent for six years. In three months, it will be six years since I started my first business. My first business was through eBay. That’s how I started making money online. My question to you is, are you willing to be consistent for six years? Not six months, not six days, not six weeks, but six years? Are you?
In my first year, I was actually making around $1,000 a month. It was a lot of money to me at that time. I got to earn that amount six months after I started. I was consistent, and I got it. Since then, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. Some months I made zero, and some months I even lost money because I took some risks. Other months I earned $1,500, and maybe the maximum was $2,000 for 4 years. But I was consistent. I really believed in what I wanted to do. I really believed in making money, I believed in growing, and I believed in myself eventually.
In my fifth year of being consistent in practicing some key disciplines every single day, all of a sudden my income grew to $10,000, which is almost 5 to 10 times more of what I was earning a month. Since then, I have continued growing, and I still am consistent every single day. That’s the power of consistency. For four years, my results were one thing. Because I had been consistent, on my fifth year, you could see a quick growth in my income. But it’s not only in the income. This is just one example in your business.
I’ll give you one more concrete example that you may relate to. Ten months ago, I started a new business. I started private labeling products on Amazon. Since I have an e-commerce business, I really wanted to get into Amazon and have my own brand, so I started 10 months ago. During this time, I have been a very busy person, really. I’m traveling the world, and in those 10 months, I’ve been around 10 countries. Sometimes I’m in a country for a month, sometimes for two weeks, so I’m moving a lot. I go to different events. I’m busy. I have a girlfriend, a relationship. I work out daily. There are lots of things I have to do.
Still, during those 10 months, despite my busy schedule, traveling around the world, and working on other businesses as well, because that’s not my core business, just a new one I opened 10 months ago, I was consistent almost every day, and I kept working late all the time. Maybe I wasn’t spending 18 hours a day working, but I had the key ingredient: consistency. In this month, I actually had the biggest growth in this business. We’re almost getting to $60,000 in revenue per month.
It wasn’t very smooth, of course. In the beginning, we failed and risked failures, and I learned a lot. It was like a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs, but I really believe in this business model and in the products that I’m offering. I really love it, and I am passionate about it. And I’ve always been consistent. Almost every day, I was working on it, and all of a sudden, I see a big growth right now. And this is the result of working on it for 10 months.
I see some people who want to start selling on Amazon because it’s a popular way today of how to make money online, and they ask, “Is it really working? How much time do I have to spend? If I spend one month or two months, is it enough?” Are all the completely wrong questions to ask. You need to be consistent. Believe in it. Maybe it will be 6 months, 10 months, like it was for me, 12 months, or a bit more.
But if you’ll be consistent, I believe that you will get the results. You will get the success that you want, and it will make you grow. I grew this business while focusing on my other businesses, and they’re growing as well. All the while, I’m traveling and managing a very busy schedule. Meanwhile, I also have time to make these videos and to focus on my blog.
One great quote that I want to share from Albert Einstein is this: “It’s not that I’m so smart. It’s just that I stay with problems longer.” What a great quote. I actually heard a similar one in some interview with an entrepreneur. I don’t remember exactly from where or who it was I heard it, but it goes, “Sometimes you get to win in business only because you stay in the game longer than others.”
So only if you don’t quit, only if you’re consistent, only if you stay there, sometimes this alone will progress you so much more than others, and sometimes only this will get you to win and achieve success. Obviously, it’s not the only thing, but if you stay in the game and you don’t quit, especially if you believe in yourself, this will give you the time.
Some of the biggest companies in the world today didn’t get success on the first day. For some of them, it was a 10-year process. Are you willing on your company or on your business for 10 years? Most people aren’t willing to work on it for 10 weeks. If you’re willing to work on something for 10 years, the compounding effect will just get you there eventually, and you’ll see sudden growth in your business and in your personal life that you can’t imagine.
So if you want a quick action-step, I invite you to think of something that you may be lacking in consistency and think of how you can be consistent. Maybe it’s your workout. Maybe you need to be consistent with working out three times a week. Maybe it’s a project or a business, and then all you need is to be consistent in working half an hour a day on this business.
Let’s say you have 9:00 to 5:00, and you want to start earning money online. In the evening, work every day for half an hour, an hour, or as much as you have, but not once a week. Get the consistency going, and think long-term. This ingredient will bring you success.
I hope you enjoyed this, and would love to hear your comments.
